Rental car — recommended for flexibility
Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt, Alamo, Budget and Locauto are all in the arrivals hall (most open from 07:30). Depending on season and how far ahead you book, prices can be very reasonable. By car you are in Iseo in 35–45 minutes.
Fastest route: motorway A4 towards Brescia, exit Palazzolo or Rovato (toll approx. €5–8; pay by card, cash or TelePass — rental companies offer transponders optionally). Scenic alternative: SS42 via Trescore Balneario — slightly longer, no toll, more picturesque. Little Mier includes a private courtyard parking space — drive in, park, done.

Direct bus: Iseo Express — new since summer 2026
Since 12 June 2026 the Iseo Express runs: a seasonal direct bus by Arriva connecting Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport and the city of Bergamo with the southern shore of Lake Iseo — no changes needed — stopping at Iseo, Clusane, Paratico and Sarnico. The journey from the airport to Iseo takes just over an hour. For day-trippers and guests without a car it is the most convenient public transport option, with no change in Brescia.
The experimental service runs daily from 12 June to 13 September 2026, including weekends and public holidays: on weekdays 14 trips (there and back) between 04:42 and 22:56, on holidays 12 trips (05:03–22:56). That makes it workable for early and late flights too.
Tickets are available contactless on board, via the Arriva MyPay app, the WhatsApp Chat&Go service or at authorised retailers. Valid Brescia province passes remain valid on the lakeside section. As this is the connection's first season, check the current timetable before you travel.
Taxi or private transfer
A taxi from BGY to Iseo costs approximately €80 as a guide price — depending on time of day, luggage and provider. Ask for a fixed rate upfront. Specialist transfer companies (ShuttleDirect, Suntransfers, JAM Transfer, TransferMilan and others) often charge less when booked in advance and price per vehicle, not per passenger.

By bus & train
ATB Line 1 shuttle from the airport to Bergamo railway station: every 20 minutes (05:30–00:15), journey approx. 15–20 minutes, ticket €2.60 (vending machines in arrivals or ATB app). From Bergamo a regional train to Brescia (approx. 57 min, approx. €4.80, hourly), then change to the Brescia–Edolo line (Trenord RE3 or regional) which stops at Iseo and Sulzano (22–32 min, approx. €2–3). Total: 1.5–2.5 hours, approx. €9–10 per person.
The cheapest option, but the most cumbersome with luggage and two changes. Check timetables at trenord.it in advance — the Brescia connection is not always tightly scheduled. Iseo station is within walking distance of the old town and Little Mier.
Driving from Germany or Austria
Arriving by car from the north, the most direct route is the Brenner Pass (A22, lowest Alpine crossing at 1,372 m). From the Brenner border to Iseo is approximately 280 km — about 3 to 3.5 hours in normal traffic. Allow around 3 hours from Innsbruck and about 4 hours from Munich.
Budget for A22 motorway tolls (approx. €15–25 depending on vehicle class). From 15 November to 15 April winter tyres or snow chains are compulsory on Alpine roads. Little Mier's private courtyard parking means no searching for a space after a long drive.
Airport comparison
Bergamo BGY is clearly the best choice for Lake Iseo. Milan Linate (LIN) is around 51 km away — reachable by car in about 1 hour, but only worthwhile if you are flying via Milan anyway. Milan Malpensa (MXP) at 104 km is considerably further (approx. 1.5 hours by car) and only worth considering for significantly cheaper flights. Verona (VRN) is about 54 km away (approx. 1 hour) and a reasonable alternative for flights from Germany or Austria.
Bottom line: BGY saves time and effort. Flying into Verona is the next-best option — head towards Brescia via the A4 or SS11.
Practical tips: parking, arrival time, night arrival
Parking in Iseo: the free car park at Viale Europa (lit, CCTV, 24/7, no time limit) is ideal for day visitors and late arrivals. Paid options: Viale Repubblica (approx. 350 m from the old town) and Via Mier. Avoid Viale Repubblica on Thursday night — the Friday market closes it.
Best time to leave BGY: 09:00–12:00 or 13:00–17:00 for lighter traffic. For night arrivals, Viale Europa is always available and safe. Iseo is very compact — the old town and Little Mier are just a few minutes on foot from any central car park.
From landing to the first night: an arrival day
Midday — Land at Bergamo Airport (BGY). Pick up a rental car at the terminal (most desks open from 7:30) or book a taxi/transfer in advance. Via the A4 (Palazzolo or Rovato exit) to Iseo in 35–45 minutes.
Afternoon — Arrive at Little Mier in Via Mier, park in the courtyard, settle in. A first stroll through the old town and to the harbour.
Evening — Aperitivo on the Lungolago, then dinner at a trattoria with lake fish. Without your own car: take the bus (ATB line 1) to Bergamo station and the train via Brescia to Iseo.
Tip — Best time to leave BGY: 9–12 or 13–17 (less traffic). For night arrivals, the Viale Europa car park in Iseo is free and lit around the clock.
