Swimming at Lago d'Iseo: beaches, lidos & quiet coves
Lago d'Iseo offers attractive swimming spots all along the shore — from organised lidos with showers and sunloungers to natural gravel coves. Water quality is excellent: all official monitoring points are classified as outstanding. In July and August the lake surface reaches 24–26°C.
Most shores are gravel or grass, rarely sand. Water shoes are recommended at rocky entries. Shade is not guaranteed everywhere — arriving early and bringing sun protection pays off in high season.
Iseo & Sarnico: Sassabanek, Lido di Iseo & Sarnico lidos
Centro Turistico Sassabanek (Via Colombera 2, Iseo) is the largest bathing complex on the lake: two heated pools, direct lake shore, lawns, tennis, SUP, windsurfing, children's playground and bar. Ideal for families. Season mid-May to early September, entry fee required. Own car park on site (approx. €5/day). +39 030 980164.
Lido di Iseo (Via per Rovato 28) offers a generous gravel beach with lawn, bar, rental, showers and changing rooms. Dogs on leads allowed. Entry approx. €4/day, season May to mid-September.
La Spiaggetta Beach Bar (Via per Rovato 14, Iseo/Pianoni) is a small free gravel beach with a snack bar and sunloungers — relaxed, no entry fee, dogs on leads allowed.
In Sarnico there are three lidos along the lakeside promenade: Lido Cadè (Via Predore 14) with lawn, bar and volleyball (entry approx. €2), Lido Fontanini (Via Vittorio Veneto) with gentle shore and shaded lawn, and Lido Nettuno (Via Lungolago 51) as a lounge beach bar with pool.

Sulzano: Lido Comunale, Spiaggetta Carini & Marilago
Lido Comunale Sulzano (Via Cardona) is in the village centre — gravel beach, WC, showers, small bar area, free entry. Note: the entry is steep, suitable for experienced swimmers only.
Spiaggetta Carini (Via C. Battisti 107) is a tiny sheltered gravel beach with a spectacular view of Monte Isola. Steep entry, water shoes recommended, free parking directly at the beach.
Giardino Marilago (Via C. Battisti) is a private pool-lido complex with restaurant and sunloungers, entry fee required, dogs on leads allowed, large car park next door.
Eastern shore: Sale Marasino, Marone, Baia del Sol & Pisogne
La Perla Sebina (Via Prov. 12, Sale Marasino) is a generous beach with lawn and gravel, bar, changing rooms, WC and volleyball — family-friendly, shallow entry. No dogs. Season May–September, car park approx. €5–10/day.
Spiaggetta Piccola Tahiti (Via Roma 83, Marone) is an idyllic mini cove: fine gravel, very shallow entry, good for children, no facilities. A few free parking spaces above.
Lido Mad Hops (Via Cristini 16, Marone): large lawn, reed garden, bar, SUP and canoe rental, WC and showers. Dogs on leads allowed, entry fee required.
Baia del Sol (Vello near Marone) is on the Vello–Toline cycle path: lawn, kiosk, no entry — ideal as a cycling break.
In Pisogne: Darsena 3.0 (public grass beach with bar, free entry) and X Beach (Via Gardesana 33, pool club with bar and playground, entry fee, dogs allowed). Harbour car park usually free.
Monte Isola: Carzano, Le Ere & Sensole
Parco Pubblico Carzano offers a wide grass beach with bar and WC — shallow entry, very busy in summer, dogs on leads allowed. Reached directly by ferry from Sale Marasino to Carzano.
Le Ere in Peschiera Maraglio is a popular lawn right at the jetty with benches and a swimming ladder — great panoramic views, bar nearby. Spiaggia Serf in Sensole is a smaller natural gravel beach with no facilities.
Getting there: ferry from Sulzano to Peschiera Maraglio (approx. €2.60 one way) or from Sale Marasino to Carzano. Since 2025 an additional landing fee of €1.50 per person applies.
Western shore: Lovere, Riva di Solto & Costa Volpino
Lovere (Bergamo province) on the northern shore has a beautiful harbour area with public lakeside park and Porto Turistico: bathing facilities, restaurant, playgrounds. Entry fee for pools, paid car park at the harbour.
Riva di Solto has Baia del Bogn — a picturesque rocky cove with crystal-clear water, no entry, steep access (experienced swimmers only). Doana (small camping beach) is also nearby.
Baia delle Rose (Via Nazionale 24, Costa Volpino) is a newer beach park with sunlounger lawns, watersports centre and accessible entry — free admission, generous parking.
Boat, SUP & watersports
At several harbours you can hire motorboats (up to 40 hp without a licence in Italy), pedal boats and SUP boards. Kayak and canoe tours around Monte Isola and the small islands Loreto and San Paolo are particularly popular.
For short transfers there are water taxis (e.g. Iseo Taxi Boat) and private boat trips for up to 8 people. Lido Mad Hops in Marone offers SUP rental; further rental operators in Iseo and Sulzano.
Season, water quality & practical rules
Main swimming season is May to mid-September. Water quality is excellent — all official monitoring points are rated outstanding by ARPA Lombardia. At unguarded beaches swim at your own risk; lifeguards are only at large lidos like Sassabanek.
Dogs are allowed on leads at most free beaches; large lidos such as Perla Sebina are dog-free. Open fires and barbecues are not permitted outside official areas. No glass at the water. Water shoes recommended at gravel and rocky entries.
A perfect beach day at Lago d'Iseo
Morning — Early to Sassabanek in Iseo (pools + lake beach, ideal for families) or to the free Lido Comunale in Sulzano with a view of Monte Isola. Pack sun protection and water shoes.
Midday — A snack at the beach or a Pranzo at a nearby trattoria. Watersports: hire a SUP, windsurf or kayak.
Afternoon — By ferry to Monte Isola and the quiet natural beaches at Sensole or Le Ere. Or along the southern shore to Sarnico with its lidos on the promenade.
Tip — High season May to mid-September; water quality is good and official bathing spots are tested. Dogs are allowed on a lead at many beaches.
